a la tete was launched in 2009 as a distinctive company specializing in bespoke hats and headpieces. Each headpiece is blocked or draped free form in our studio in Brooklyn and is then finished with couture sewing techniques. a la tete designs are always delicate, whimsical and quirky. The playful pieces intend to recreate the freedom of a young child’s fanciful wanderings where imagination, adornment and individuality reside. The distinct personality of each headpiece imbues the wearer with confidence and charm.

Designer, Jessie Abraham, aims to revive the lost craft of millinery through contemporary design. Trained in fashion design at Parson’s School of Design and later in millinery design at The Fashion Institute of Technology, Jessie has a unique background drawing on experiences working in both costume and high-end fashion. She currently works as a freelance designer and illustrator while running a la tete.
